Cumberland County Schools (CCS) hosted a well-attended community event in observance of School Board Appreciation Month (January) tonight at the Kiwanis Recreation Center in Fayetteville. The Meet and Greet: An Evening with the Cumberland County Board of Education brought the community together for an engaging evening of conversation and celebration.

For almost two hours, local residents had the opportunity to connect directly with members of the Cumberland County Board of Education (CCBOE), learning more about the Board’s ongoing efforts to guide the district toward educational excellence. The free event provided an open forum for the community to celebrate the Board’s dedication to serving the students, families and staff of Cumberland County.

“It was a fantastic evening of engagement and appreciation,” said CCS Superintendent Dr. Marvin Connelly Jr. “The community had a chance to interact with the Board members who are so integral to our district’s continued success. It was a wonderful way to honor their hard work and commitment to our students.”

During the evening, the E.E. Smith High School Choral Group and the Cape Fear High School Orchestra performed, with a solo dance performance from Reid Ross Classical School.

"What a fantastic evening!" said Deanna Jones, chairwoman of the Cumberland County Board of Education. "Tonight was a great opportunity to connect with our community and celebrate the important work of public education. The conversations we had reinforced how essential it is for families, staff and community members to stay engaged in shaping the future of Cumberland County Schools. We appreciate everyone who joined us and look forward to continuing this partnership to support our students."
