Behind every successful school district is an engaged community dedicated to supporting schools. Throughout Cumberland County, businesses, community partners, parents and volunteers dedicate their time and resources to assist schools and help students succeed.
To recognize these dedicated supporters, Cumberland County Schools (CCS) is announcing the Committed Community Support Award, which will be presented monthly to an individual or group for selflessly supporting the school system.
“We are fortunate to live in a community where so many people care deeply about our children, educators and schools,” said CCS Superintendent Dr. Marvin Connelly, Jr. “We recognize that our community partners are essential to moving our school district forward and helping students succeed. This program is just one way we can recognize some of those who are dedicated to making a difference every day.”
As the Committed Community Partner Award includes mentors, this monthly recognition program will replace the district’s Mentor of the Year Award, allowing the district to recognize supporters throughout the year. Recognition for award winners will include a visit from the superintendent (or designee), a plaque and recognition from the Cumberland County Board of Education.
