Cumberland County Schools (CCS) is proud to announce that its nearly 6,000 employees worked together to help raise $99,349.74 during the recent CCS United Way "40 Days of Caring: Building A Community of Kindness" Campaign.
On January 15, the total was announced before an auditorium filled with CCS administrators. Special recognition was given to the top contributing attendance area, the school with the highest contributions within that area and the district department with the most significant impact.
"We may not have reached the $125,000 mark, but we absolutely fulfilled our mission," said Dr. Lindsay Whitley, associate superintendent of CCS' Communications & Community Engagement. "Our focus was on making a meaningful impact in our community through kindness and generosity and that’s exactly what we accomplished. Our contributions will extend beyond our schools and classrooms, helping to fund vital services that support individuals and families during their greatest times of need—whether through access to health care, financial stability or educational resources. Together, we made a difference!"
The United Way of Cumberland County plans to use the funds raised by the district to assist various agencies and organizations across the community.
