Cumberland County Schools (CCS) is proud to announce the exciting relaunch of "Let's Talk Education," a dynamic 30-minute radio program dedicated to exploring K-12 education in the local community. Airing twice a month, the radio show will be heard on WIDU 1600 AM at 8:00 a.m. on Saturdays. The first show is scheduled for Saturday, December 21.
Hosted by CCS' 2025 Principal of the Year Dr. Shanessa Fenner, an experienced school leader at W.T. Brown Elementary School, and Robert Brickey, a beloved on-air talent at WIDU, "Let's Talk Education" promises to deliver engaging conversations, insightful interviews and timely updates about the district’s initiatives, achievements and happenings.
"This is a wonderful opportunity to connect with our community in a fresh and engaging way," said Dr. Lindsay Whitley, the associate superintendent of CCS' Communications & Community Engagement. "Through 'Let's Talk Education,' we aim to provide valuable information while celebrating the incredible work happening in our schools."
Each episode will feature a variety of topics that include:
Celebrating the achievements of CCS students
Highlighting innovative educators and their strategies
Exploring partnerships and school-based programs that enhance education
"We’re thrilled to bring this program back to the airwaves," said WIDU Co-Owner and General Manager Sandy Cookman. "Education impacts everyone, and 'Let's Talk Education' is a platform to spark important conversations and keep our listeners informed."
