Following the recommendation of Cumberland County Schools (CCS) Superintendent Dr. Marvin Connelly, Jr., the Cumberland County Board of Education approved a new principal during Tuesday evening's Board meeting. Tianna O'Brien, who currently serves as the principal of J.W. Coon Elementary School, will take on the role of principal at E. Melvin Honeycutt Elementary School. She will be replacing the current principal Felix Keyes who is retiring.
O'Brien began her career with CCS in 2010 as a teacher at New Century International Elementary School. She earned her bachelor's degree in Elementary Education at The University of North Carolina At Pembroke in 2010 and her master’s degree in School Administration at Fayetteville State University in 2016. With more than 14 years of experience in education, O'Brien has demonstrated expertise in recruiting and retaining teachers and staff as well as fostering professional relationships with the local community and stakeholders.
