As Cumberland County Schools (CCS) prepares to kick off an exciting new school year on Monday, August 26 at the remaining 79 schools, families should be aware of eight important initiatives that will help shape the educational experience of their students. The district is pleased to share these impactful initiatives, designed to support its more than 50,000 students and their families.
These eight key 'Need to Know' highlights include a mental-health support tool for middle and high schoolers, the 2024-2025 Online Back-to-School Guide and strict safety measures for unauthorized people on school buses. A Weapons Detection System will also be in place at schools for added safety for students, staff and visitors on campus.
The district has added a language support line to assist non-English speakers along with new family engagement and volunteer opportunities.
Finally, a new student information system, replacing PowerSchool, along with a revised code of conduct aimed at supporting both academic and emotional success, will help steer daily operations.
