Cumberland County Schools (CCS) is excited to announce that four of its outstanding premier professionals are being honored as the area's top young talents in The Fayetteville Observer's '40 Under 40' Class of 2024.

The following CCS employees, who are pictured below, are 2024 '40 Under 40' award recipients:

  • Lisa Gillespie, Principal at Mary McArthur Elementary School

  • Dominic J'Rael Hunter, Director of Bands at Douglas Byrd High School

  • Ryan Shanell Mitchell, Assistant Principal at Terry Sanford High School

  • Kristle Rouse, Assistant Principal and Athletic Director at Westover High School

This year's nominees were chosen by a panel of four judges, all alumni of the '40 Under 40' program, who evaluated each candidate's community involvement and professional experience.

In its 14th year, the '40 Under 40' distinction shines the spotlight on 40 community-minded, hardworking young professionals who live or work in Bladen, Cumberland, Harnett, Hoke, Lee, Moore, Robeson, Sampson or Scotland counties.
