The Academy of Global Studies is a choice program that prepares students for college and the challenges of the 21st century. Guided by our motto, "Think globally, act locally," students are encouraged to make a meaningful impact through annual volunteer service hours in our local community. The program offers a rigorous curriculum with interdisciplinary, globally focused courses, international field trips, and exposure to diverse cultural experiences. Additionally, we provide extra college preparation and oversight to ensure student success. Through these experiences, students develop a broad global perspective while actively contributing to their local surroundings.

The School of Global Studies features three core pillars: Academic Excellence, Global Awareness, and Cultural Engagement.
Academic and Behavioral Excellence
Students are expected to maintain a cumulative B average, with no grade falling below a C.
Enrollment in Honors or AP-level courses is required where such options are available.
Students must uphold a high standard of conduct at all times.
Consistent attendance is essential, with minimal absences allowed.
Global Awareness and Community Involvement
Students will cultivate a global perspective by engaging in cultural and academic activities, including participation in our Global Symposiums at FTS.
A commitment to community service is required, as students demonstrate social responsibility through meaningful volunteer activities.
Cultural Engagement and Social Skills Development
Students will develop appropriate social skills, preparing them for both the college admissions process and their future professional careers.
Participation in activities that enhance their experiences in music, art, and theatre is encouraged to foster cultural enrichment.
Participation in the School of Global Studies requires students to complete 20-50 hours of volunteer service yearly through the organized volunteer program at Terry Sanford High School.
