Warrenwood Battle of the Books

The purpose of the Battle of the Books program is to encourage and foster a lifelong love of reading.  Our students are exposed to quality literature representing a variety of literary styles and viewpoints by prominent authors in the area of youth literature.  The students read and study the selected books in preparation to compete in a quiz bowl game format that creates interest and excitement in reading.  Through the exhilaration of the competition, students improve reading skills and acquire a broader knowledge base.

National Junior Beta Club

Being a member of the National Junior Beta Club is one of the highest recognitions at Warrenwood Elementary. Use the link below for more information about the Club.

North Carolina Science Olympiad

Warrenwood Elementary School competes in the North Carolina Science Olympiad (NCSO). The challenging and self-motivating events of NCSO align with the North Carolina Essential Standards as well as the National Science Education Standards. The events are designed to enhance and strengthen both science content and process skills. Students earn individual medals for their events as well as compete as a team.

The team is open to 3rd, 4th and 5th graders with a strong interest in science and the dedication to prepare for the events.  Tryouts are in September each year and the team begins preparing for the event with weekly meetings beginning in October.  It is a very rewarding experience for all involved.
