Tiger Family,
I am excited to be the educational leader and principal of South View High School. As soon as you walk into the school, it is evident that South View High School is a school where the teachers, students and administrators are excited to attend and be a part of.
South View High School is committed to providing a rigorous, nurturing, and inspiring educational program for all of our students. This school year we have embraced the change that is needed to make sure our staff challenge our students to embrace this opportunity to R.O.A.R. Every teacher, staff member, parent, and administrator plays an important role in making this year a great one for each of our Tigers! It is our goal that each student realize their highest potential through our challenging academic programs. We want each child to develop the skills that matter most~the abilities to think and learn across disciplines, connect ideas, engage in effective communication, think critically and creatively, and collaborate with peers in a positive manner.
At South View, we place a strong emphasis on safety, cleanliness, active student involvement, academic rigor, and preparation for global competitiveness. South View High School offers two academies for our students: the International Baccalaureate Academy and the Academy of Public Safety. The International Baccalaureate Academy (IB) is the only IB Academy in the region, and is an internationally accredited college preparatory program. In this program, IB students receive college level instruction in a well-rounded curriculum. Upon completion of each IB course, students can take internationally recognized examinations that will allow them to earn college credit and receive an IB Diploma at graduation.
The Academy of Public Safety and Security works with Fayetteville Technical Community College (FTCC) in preparing students for a career in Public Safety. Fayetteville Technical Community College provides college-level instructors to teach classes on the South View campus and also allows juniors and seniors the opportunity to take courses on the F.T.C.C campus. This opportunity allows South View students to finish high school with college credit and prepares them for college and majoring in Public Safety and Security.
In the realm of extracurricular activities, our athletic program is competitive not only in the county, region and state, but also on a national level. The South View Athletic Department is made up of more than thirty-seven different teams playing sports – it is a total program that excels on different playing surfaces, excels academically in the classroom, and does a tremendous service for the community.
South View High School also has one of the largest and strongest Cultural Arts Departments in Cumberland County. Our Tiger Marching Band has a large membership and receives numerous awards and invitations to perform across the country. South View also has an outstanding Dance, Chorus, Orchestra, Art and Theater Arts program. If you get a chance, please attend a concert, recital, or play – you will not be disappointed.
Please take an opportunity to visit our community and our school. When you talk with parents, teachers and students, you will find out very quickly why “Everybody wants to be a Tiger!”
