Board Meeting Schedule

The Board of Education meets the second Tuesday of each month and begins with a public comments session that starts at 6:30 p.m. Meeting location is in the Board Room of the Central Services Building, located at 2465 Gillespie Street.

Empty conference roomThe Cumberland County Board of Education welcomes comments from the public and provides numerous opportunities for citizens to voice their opinions on issues that affect public education. Persons who wish to publicly speak to the full Board may do so at the regularly scheduled meeting on the second Tuesday of each month. A public comment period is held during each 6:30 p.m. meeting.

Comments are limited to three minutes per speaker in order to allow all interested persons equal opportunity to speak. Individuals requesting to speak during the public comment period may sign up using the following link: https://goo.gl/forms/yP6G3Emks84qPCH62, which will be accessible starting at noon on Board meeting days and remain open until 6:15 p.m. To facilitate the sign-up process, CCS will provide an electronic device at each Board meeting, and staff will be on hand to assist individuals. A pen and paper option will be available upon request.  The cut-off time to sign up to speak during the public comment period is 6:15 p.m.

Citizens may also choose to attend various Board committee meetings during which Board committees receive information and consider agenda items for recommendation to the full Board. Board committees are as follows: Curriculum, Personnel, Student Services/Activities, Budget/Finance, Policy/Student Assignment, Legislative and Auxiliary Services. Above all else, the Cumberland County Board of Education serves our community. In assuming responsibility for the entire school district, these elected officials act in all measures, in the best interest of the children of the CCS. The “Contact” link on the Board Website is in place to ensure that the Board is available to receive input from its constituents at all times. Feel free to contact any Board member in person or by writing, on any subject related to the CCS or public education in general.
