Cumberland County Schools’ Summer Feeding Program

In the Cumberland County School (CCS) system, school is out for the summer, but keeping children healthy is not. CCS’ Child Nutrition Services employees are busy providing free meals to area children during these warm summer months.

Meals are being served at various locations around Cumberland County from Monday through Friday until July 28.  There are no income requirements or registration. Anyone age 18 or younger may come and eat.

“The Summer Feeding Program is an excellent benefit for the children in our community,” said Beth Maynard, the executive director of CCS’ Child Nutrition Services.  “Children can receive nutritious meals throughout the summer by visiting open feeding sites or attending camps, church programs, and other organizations that participate in the Summer Feeding Program.”

Each year, the U.S. Department of Agriculture partners with local organizations like CCS’ Child Nutrition Services, to provide free meals to children when school is out for the summer.
