Nearly 500 educators, students, parents, elected officials, business leaders and committed community members gathered on February 4 to hear what local leaders from Cumberland County Schools, Fayetteville Technical Community College (FTCC), Fayetteville State University (FSU) and Methodist University (MU) had to say about the state of education at their respective institutions.

The first-ever State of Education in Cumberland County event took place in the J.W. Seabrook Auditorium on the campus of Fayetteville State University.

During the two-hour event, CCS Superintendent Dr. Marvin Connelly, Jr., FTCC President Dr. J. Larry Keen, FSU Interim Chancellor Dr. Peggy Valentine and MU President Dr. Stanley Wearden took the stage to share with the audience their respective institution’s successes, challenges, and strategic priorities.
