Military Child Task Force Update

Cumberland County Schools’ (CCS) Military Family and Youth Liaison, Mr. Howard Lattimore, facilitates a Military Child Task Force that meets quarterly at E.E Smith High school. The Task Force is constructed of CCS Student Support Personnel, Military Student Transition Consultants (MSTC), Military Family Life Consultants (MFLC), Ft. Bragg School Liaisons Officers (SLO), parent facilitators, and a multitude of organizations that serve Cumberland County Military-Connected Students. They collaborate to share resources to meet the needs of military families and to help educators better understand the military culture. Decembers’ talking points were mental health and scholarships for military dependents. The presenters were: Mr. Bryan Barros from USO, Mr. Mark Patton CCS MSTC, and Mr. Duncan Harling 11 Grader at Jack Britt High School. Superintendent Dr. Marvin Connelly Jr. shared important updates within CCS.
