School Board Members Take the Oath of Office

Board elects chair and vice chair

CongratulationsFayetteville, N.C. – Last night, three individuals took the oath of office at the Cumberland County Board of Education meeting. Two of them, Judy Musgrave and Greg West, were re-elected in November. Charles McKellar, who was elected in November, is beginning his first term as a member of the Board.

The oaths of office were administered by Dr. Jeanette Council, Chairperson of the Cumberland County Board of Commissioners, and the Honorable Edward A. Pone, District Court Judge.

The Board also selected a new chair and vice chair. Donna Vann, who most recently served as the vice chair, was elected to serve as the chair of the Cumberland County Board of Education. Alicia Chisolm was elected to serve as the vice chair of the Board.

“I am humbled to be selected as the new chair of the Cumberland County Board of Education,” said Vann. “Over the next year, I look forward to working alongside our Board members to support the work of our superintendent and educators as they seek to empower our young people to reach their full potential.”

The outgoing chair of the Board, Carrie Sutton, stated “As a life-long resident of Cumberland County and a product of the Cumberland County Schools, I have been humbled by the opportunity to serve in this capacity. The stage is set for continued success in the Cumberland County Schools, and I look forward to continuing to serve on this Board in the future.”
