Parent Cafe Workshops Parents are invited to attend a Parent Café on Tuesday, December 11 at 9:30 a.m. at the Pre-k Office, 1307 Hillsboro Street.  Parent Cafés are a series of parent group conversations where parents can make new friends, engage in positive conversations, and learn about community resources. Parent Cafés follow a specific process and a set of questions that motivate parents to share thoughts, feelings and experiences they need to talk about.  Having these conversations helps build 5 Protective Factors (resilience, relationships, knowledge, support, and communication) that keep families strong. Most important, the Parent Café process includes follow-up, leading to real change in the lives of families and communities. The Cumberland County Partnership for Children (CCPFC),  in partnership with Army Community Services (ACS), arranged for individuals from several community agencies to be trained to host the Be Strong Families Parent Cafés.  The CCS’ Pre-k Department staff received the training and has already hosted two Parent Cafés.  The Parent Cafés are free and open to the public but are designed for a limited number of participants per session.  Please call the Pre-k Office at 910.483.7370 to reserve a seat for the December session or future offerings.
