Local School Receives National Recognition

Commemorative Plate that reads U.S. Department of Education National Blue Ribbon Schools 2018Earlier today, Eastover-Central Elementary School of Arts was recognized by the U.S. Department of Education as a 2018 National Blue Ribbon School at an awards ceremony in Washington, D.C.

The coveted National Blue Ribbon School award affirms the hard work of educators, families and communities in creating safe and welcoming schools where students master challenging and engaging content. 

This honor is bestowed upon “Exemplary High Performing” schools that have their state’s highest achieving students (the top 15%), as measured by state assessments.

CCS’ Superintendent Dr. Marvin Connelly and several staff members from Eastover-Central, including Principal Ashley Porter, were in place to accept the prestigious award on behalf of the school. 

Dr. Connelly, Superintendent of the Cumberland County Schools, Mr. Ashley Porter, Principal of Eastover-Central Elementary and staff members are in Washington, D.C. being recognized as a Blue Ribbon School
