CCS’ Celebrates Kindness Awareness Month

Our purpose will be to recognize and emphasize random acts of kindness. This year the Anti-Bullying Task Force (ABTF) has organized two different events that promote the importance of kindness.

Community Donation Drive – This year the ABTF chose to incorporate a community element by having each school district collect designated items. The school with the most “Random Acts of Kindness” will be determined as winners by the following categories: Level (elementary, middle, high) and overall.

Pine Forest District – Crayons, Colored Pencils
Seventy-First District – #2 Pencils, Handheld Pencil Sharpeners
Jack Britt District – 5×7 and 8×10 Canvases, Paint Brushes
South View District – Glue Sticks, 5″ Blunt Tip Scissors
Douglas Byrd District – Bottled Water, Individually Wrapped Snacks
Cape Fear District – Juice Boxes, Canned Sodas
Gray’s Creek District – Two Pocket Folders, Journals, Gel Pens
Westover District – Lysol Spray, Kleenex
Terry Sanford District – Toilet Tissue, Lunch Bags
E.E. Smith District – Paper Towels, Erasers

CCS’ Central Services – Birth-K Children’s Books or Educational Toys, Uniform Pants (any size – navy, khaki, black), Uniform Polo Shirts (any size – white, navy, green, or burgundy), Backpacks, Acrylic Paint

Project Kindness 2018 Presents: CCS Got Talent

CCS Got Talent is a talent show and art contest for our students and employees to demonstrate what kindness means to them. Please encourage those you know to apply and represent their school.

Auditions will be held on October 8, 12, and 24 at the Educational Resource Center (396 Elementary Drive/Fayetteville) from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m.
Dress Rehearsal will be held on October 29, 2018, at Jack Britt High School from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m.

The Talent Show will be held on Tuesday, October 30, 2018, at Jack Britt High School from 6:00 – 9:30 p.m. The public is invited to attend. Admission is FREE

Talent Show Rules:

  • Must be a student or employee of the Cumberland County Schools
  • Must have a theme of Kindness
  • No inappropriate language or innuendo
  • All costumes and music must be approved
  • Acts must be 3 minutes or less in length
  • Winners will be based on talent and creativity (no lip-synching) and will receive a variety of prizes.
  • Tryouts are open, but a select number of acts will be selected for the actual show.
  • Participants who want to audition must be registered through the online registration link and pay the non-refundable $5 tryout fee (every individual auditioning will pay $5, not $5 per act.

Art Show Rules

  • Must be a student or employee of the Cumberland County Schools
  • Must have a theme of Kindness
  • No inappropriate language or innuendo
  • All submissions are to be on an 11×14 frame size
  • Submissions and Selections will go as follows:
    • Participating students will register to participate via the online registration link. Those participating will submit their final product to their school’s art teacher by October 4.
    • Each school’s art teacher will determine the top two submissions and will submit them to the Anti-Bullying Task Force by October 18, 2018.
    • The ABTF committee will determine three finalists from each grade level to compete in the final art show by October 25, 2018, and will notify those selected.
    • Three winners will be chosen on November 1st by a panel of community judges and awarded Ribbons and other prizes.
