Owen Elementary School BusOn February 21, 2018, Cumberland County School leaders, community members, and the staff and students at William H. Owen Elementary School honored their school bus drivers for demonstrating a commitment to safety and dedication to their profession. The recognition commenced with a luncheon and presentation of certificates by Principal Gemette McEachern and Assistant Principal Latreicia Allen. The luncheon featured special guests in attendance including Interim Superintendent Tim Kinlaw, Sheriff Ennis Wright of the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Department, and Robert Guzman, CCS Transportation Area Supervisor.

The recognition continued with a school-wide parade of gratitude throughout the campus. Students and staff cheered with excitement and reached out for high-fives as the bus drivers, administrative team, and special guests traveled down the hallways of the school. At the conclusion of the parade, the special guests participated in “The Great Roadrunner Ride-Along” by riding one of the four buses assigned to transport students from William H. Owen Elementary School during the afternoon route. “The Great Roadrunner Ride-Along” was a memorable event that demonstrated how much the Cumberland County School system, community supporters, and the Roadrunner family appreciated their bus drivers during “Love the Bus” Month.
