Fayetteville, NC — Publix Super Markets recently donated $5,500 to area schools in Fayetteville as part of the company’s commitment to education and to commemorate the opening of the first Publix store in Fayetteville that took place on Nov. 11. 

Eleven schools within a two-mile radius of the new Publix, each received a $500 check from Publix Super Markets, Inc. The checks were distributed to the schools’ principals during the store’s “Sneak-Peek” event on Nov. 10.

“Publix was founded in 1930 with the philosophy of being involved as responsible citizens in our communities,” said Kim Reynolds, Publix media and community relations manager. “Through our support of education, we strive to enrich the lives of students and assist in preparing them for future success.”

The 11 schools receiving the donation were:

  • School representatives receive $500 checks from the new Publix Store in Fayetteville, NC.Ashley Elementary School
  • Douglas Byrd High School
  • Douglas Byrd Middle School
  • Fayetteville Christian School
  • Glendale Acres Elementary School
  • Guys School Inc.
  • Ireland Drive Middle School
  • Max Abbott Middle School
  • Patrick Catholic School
  • Terry Sanford High School
  • H. Owen Elementary School

In addition, Publix announced its launch of Publix Partners in Fayetteville, NC.  Since its inception in 1994, Publix Partners has contributed $34.6 million to schools in Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, North Carolina and South Carolina. In 2016, $1.7 million was donated to schools as part of this program. Publix Partners provides schools the opportunity for parents, faculty, staff, family, and friends to raise unrestricted funds for their school through purchases made at Publix. Schools interested in participating in Publix Partners should contact their local Publix store manager or visit www.publix.com/partners.

Program highlights:

  • Schools open a Publix Partners account by contacting the local Publix store manager.
  • Once the school’s application is processed, Publix sends a packet to the school that includes cards with the school’s account number. The cards are then distributed to parents, teachers, family an, friends.
  • Participants present their Publix Partners card to the cashier whenever they make a purchase at Publix.
  • Publix credits the schools account with every dollar participants spend and awards the school with a check(s), amount based on purchases.
  • The card does not require activation by the participant, never expires, may be used year round on any item in the store (with a few exclusions), and is valid at any Publix in Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, South Carolina and North Carolina.
