North Carolina Board of Education State SealState Superintendent Mark Johnson recently paid a visit to students and staff at Cumberland Polytechnic High School in an effort to garner support for early college programs across North Carolina. He spent about two hours at the high school, which is located on the campus of Fayetteville Technical Community College, to see the successful pathway the school’s 250 students are taking to get job skills training, college credits toward certification, associate degrees, and college credits. The State Superintendent walked across the campus to tour welding and graphic design classes and talked with students, teachers, and school administrators about the advantages of expanding early college programs.
