School System’s Teacher and Principal of the Year Finalists Announced

During CCS’ 2017-2018 Back-to-School Kick-Off Leadership Celebration on Aug. 16, the 2018 Teacher of the Year finalist and the Principal of the Year (POY) nominees were announced and recognized for their hard work and commitment to education. From a pool of candidates, these exceptional educators were chosen to vie for the County’s top educational honors. In the coming weeks, a representative from each group will be selected to compete at the regional level. 

The TOY Attendance Area Finalists are Angelina Cobb (Jack Britt), Ashley Biagi (Seventy-First), Leslie Seals (South View), Latisha Edwards (Westover), Ashley Peterson (Pine Forest), Talicia Smith (Douglas Byrd), Samuel McMillan (Gray’s Creek), Jessica Cashwell (Cape Fear), Eddie Ford III (E.E. Smith), and Carla Burke (Terry Sanford).

The POY Nominees are Lee Spruill (Cape Fear High), Michael Tucker (Cliffdale Elementary), Todd Yardis (Ed V. Baldwin Elementary), Lavette McMillan (New Century International Middle), Regina Blanding (J. W.
