Interim Superintendent Tim Kinlaw and Cumberland County Board of Education Chairman Greg West welcomed the group with words of inspiration and motivation.

The 2018 Teacher of the Year finalists and 2018 Principal of the Year nominees were announced and recognized for their hard work and commitment to education. In the coming weeks, a representative from both groups will be selected to represent the county at the regional level.

Numerous schools from across the county were applauded for their academic achievement on last year’s EOCs and EOGs.

The Leadership meeting ended with a professional development presentation led by Gary R. Howard, founder of the REACH Center for Multicultural Education, titled “Leading for Equity: The Fierce Urgency of Now.”
