Children with teacher celebrating School Social Worker WeekThe week of March 6-10, 2017 has been proclaimed in Cumberland County Schools, as School Social Work Week. This week is a time to recognize, celebrate, and focus attention on the special contributions of school social workers within the school system.  School social workers are licensed professionals who serve every school in our district, diligently helping students to remove obstacles. They remain committed to core social work values of equity for all and serve as the link between the school, home, and community.

School social workers in Cumberland County Schools will be honored during a reception on Thursday, March 9, 2017, at the Cumberland County Department of Social Services. The School Social Worker of the Year will be named in honor of a former school social worker who always stood up for children and went the extra mile.

Our theme, “Social Workers Stand Up!” brings public focus to the contributions of school social workers as they work collaboratively to help students reach their full potential, and thrive.
