Board Votes to Repeal Teacher Tenure Act 
The nine-member Board voted unanimously to approve a resolution opposing the 25 percent legislation and supporting equitable teacher pay at a professional level for the Cumberland County Schools’ exemplary teacher workforce.

 

Recognitions 
Student government leaders Aliyah Harrison from Massey Hill Classical High School and Byron Cousin Jr. from Douglas Byrd High School served as ex-officio members of the Cumberland County Board of Education during the meeting. Ex-officio members are given the opportunity to make comments, ask questions, and give input on any topic brought before the Board. 

Betty Musselwhite, the associate superintendent of School Support, introduced February’s ‘Amazing Act of Character’ honoree Addyson Titus from E. Melvin Honeycutt Elementary School. She was chosen from individual school nominations for displaying ‘acts of good character.’ Personal congratulations were extended to Addyson from each member of the Board.
