Recognitions
Student government leaders Chipper Cashwell from Cape Fear High School and Chelsea Nebolisa from Terry Sanford High School served as ex-officio members of the Cumberland County Board of Education during the meeting. Ex-officio members are given the opportunity to make comments, ask questions, and give input on any topic brought before the Board.
Betty Musselwhite, the associate superintendent of School Support, introduced October’s ‘Amazing Acts of Character’ honorees Cayden Erickson from Stoney Point Elementary School, Salmata-Mineratu Lamin from Lewis Chapel Middle School and Haley Michael from Reid Ross Classical High School. The students were chosen from individual school nominations for displaying ‘acts of good character.’ Personal congratulations were extended to the students from each member of the Board.
Kristen Schue, the Science Exploratorium teacher at Lake Rim Elementary School, was recognized for recently being named the Outstanding Science Teacher for District 4. On Thursday (Nov. 7), Schue was honored by her peers during the National Science Teachers Association Conference in Charlotte.
