Published by Laurie Pender on August 6, 2012 ......................................................................................................................................... ![]() Interactive Science Program Visits Anne Chesnutt Middle School On July 30, 2012, Anne Chesnutt Middle School students watched with anticipation as Darryl Baynes of the Interactive Science Program presented scientific demonstrations with liquid nitrogen, dry ice, and helium. The Science Program is designed to increase students’ interest in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) related career. The mission is to provide students with hands on science experiments that are fun and that explore the wonders of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). They also provide continuing educational training to teachers to help increase their understanding of scientific concepts while building their level of comfort in performing classroom science demonstrations. Interactive Science Programs also uses role modeling to communicate that a diverse group of people are responsible for modern day scientific and technological advances. Information is shared about historic and lesser known scientific contributions including those from minorities and women, with the hope that students will be inspired to offer their contribution to the world of science.
