Published by Laurie Pender on August 5, 2012 ......................................................................................................................................... ![]() Health Department Offers Free Tdap Vaccines Fayetteville – The Cumberland County Department of Public Health is offering the tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis (Tdap) vaccine free to the public during regular business hours. The vaccine is recommended for older adults and anyone with children in their household. Pertussis is more commonly known as whooping cough. The Tdap vaccine is required for children entering the sixth grade and for college students before entry into a college. Pregnant mothers are encouraged to get the vaccine to prevent sickness in their home after infants are born. The Tdap vaccine is available at the Health Department’s immunization clinic during regular business hours, which are 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 1 to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday. Friday hours are 8 to 11:30 a.m. Patients are encouraged to bring their vaccination records to determine if they need any other vaccines.
