Memorandum of Agreement with FSU Approved
The Board approved a Memorandum of Agreement with Fayetteville State University (FSU) regarding Cumberland International Early College High School (CIECHS). The Memorandum allows for the public high school to be operated on the campus of FSU under the authority of the Cumberland County Board of Education. The Memorandum is effective until June 30, 2016.
February Proclaimed as Career & Technical Education Month
The Board approved February 1 – 29 as Career and Technical Education (CTE) Month in the Cumberland County Schools.
National Observance Approved
March 4 – 10 was approved by members of the Board as National School Social Work Week in the Cumberland County Schools.
Student government leaders Jonathan Hamiter from E.E. Smith High School and Jin Ju Kim from Jack Britt High School served as the ex-officio members of the Cumberland County Board of Education during the Feb. 14 meeting. Ex-officio members are given the opportunity to make comments, ask questions, and give input on any topic brought before the Board.
Betty Musselwhite, the associate superintendent of School Support, introduced Greg Reames, the market president for Wells Fargo, who presented three
Wells Fargo Outstanding Educators Awards. The three recipients were as follows: Elementary Teacher Award – Paulette Wilmot from E.E. Miller Elementary School; Secondary Teacher Award – Ana K. Brickhouse from Reid Ross Classical School; and Administrator Award – Julie A. Dees, the assistant principal at Glendale Acres Elementary School. The awards are designed to assist educators who want to bring an innovative idea to life.
