2012-2013 School Calendar Approved
Members of the Board approved the 2012-2013 school calendar, which reflects recent changes in state legislation to include the addition of five instructional days.

Supplement for Employees
The Board approved a 1.5 percent supplement to personnel who were employed during the 2010-2011 school year and who are still actively employed. The 1.5 percent is calculated against the base salary earned in 2010-2011. The supplement will be paid on Nov.30.

Recognitions
Student government leaders Brandon Nixon from Pine Forest High School and Nestor Lora-Ortiz from Gray’s Creek High School served as the ex-officio members of the Cumberland County Board of Education during the Nov. 8 meeting. Ex-officio members are given the opportunity to make comments, ask questions, and give input on any topic brought before the Board.

Betty Musselwhite, the associate superintendent of School Support, presented October’s Amazing Acts of Character student honoree to the Board for recognition. Harris Hamed, a junior at the Cross Creek Early College High School, was chosen from individual school nominations for displaying ‘acts of good character.’

A check in the amount of $21,279.12 was presented to Dr. Till by Cathy O’Dell from South River EMC for educational needs.
